This has been a very hectic week back at school for the start of term 3 2012.
Children have come back very settled and ready to get stuck into their learning.
Teachers and other staff have come back reinvigorated and prepared for another full term of learning and growing together!
We had our very first assembly for the term on Monday and re-established our school expectations and protocols around coming into the school hall, appropriate behaviour during assemblies, and leaving the school hall.
I likened this to us caring for and respecting our "Wharenui". The school hall is our special meeting place- the main building of our school where guests are welcomed. "Traditionally the wharenui belonged to a hapū or whānau but modern meeting houses have been built for non-tribal groups, including schools and tertiary institutions. Many are decorated with carvings, rafter paintings and tukutuku panels." (source)
The children and teachers all responded really positively and we had a fabulous welcome back to school together.
