What helps when studying and working full time?

Having just completed my first semester while still working full time, I have come to realise that this takes a certain amount of determination, persistence and organisation. Most importantly, it takes...

Time management, Time management, Time management!

Organise your time. Plan your study around your work and family comitments. It is important to schedule into your calendar all known deadlines. Always sync your work comittments with your study timeline as well. Plot known work meetings, appointment dates, and any key family events in first, then work backwards from assignments deadlines to plan your research, library visits, reading time, note taking time and writing time
Plot in your assignment due dates so you are fully prepared ahead of time.

TIP: I always enter my assignment due dates on the calendar ahead of schedule by one week.

It's a trick that helps me to stay on track with all tasks related to that assignment, remain ahead of time, and stay calm! E.G. If the due date is Monday 3 July, I would plot it into my calendar as being due on the Monday before that, i.e 25 June. This way I don't get stressed out. I block out the real due day and work to the one on my calendar.

    1. Hi Marcelle
Thanks! It did take a while to get my "mojo" happening, but once you get a rhythm, it goes OK!

Looking forward to another busy term/semester!
