Yesterday we went to Southwell school for Connected14 - a great day of learning!

Thanks to a teacher colleague, you can also hear Nathan Mikaere Wallis talk about this here.
Nathan shared current and very old ideas from research done by the Brains Trust. We are asking too much of our 5 year olds - something I have worried about for a long time! I have always said that we should be focusing on pro-social skills development and Nathan has added to my thinking by highlighting the importance of resilience education alongside their social and emotional development. He states that this is far more important than teaching a 5-7 year old how to read or write - something their brain is physiologically/developmentally not ready for!
What do we do with this information and how can we use it to improve appropriate learning opportunities for our 5-7 year olds NOW?
