I have been exploring the worlds of twitter and blogging as a learner 'tweeter' and 'blogger' over the last 18 months or so and I have been bombarded with an enormous amount of content from across the world! Deciding who I should or should not follow was extremely difficult to start with. I have had to dive into the deep twitter and blogging waters to explore whoever came across my path, reading whatever is available. There is no shortage of great people to learn from and with so, it is not until you follow someone that you start to become discerning about what they offer and whether or not their content is inspiring, interesting, or professionally related to your needs or not.
A @name is called your "HANDLE" my handle is @Myravardon
a # is like joining a group of people sharing a common interest in a discussion...
e.g
#Vardonchat and
#vardonPD
Tip # 1
Just start! Follow someone that is recommended to you, or someone you work with.
Tip # 2
Read! Whatever tweets or Blogs come your way, read them and click on the links that they give you. Scour each Blog for other blogs that are mentioned or followed. Check them out and add them to your list of blogs to follow.
Tip # 3
Tweet! If you find a blog post that has been helpful - share it on twitter with whoever you want to see it! Remember to add a #hashtag! That's something I kept ( still keep) on forgetting.
Tip # 4
Unfollow! or DELETE them - If you are not finding them helpful, interesting or related to your learning - then stop following them. It is that simple. No-one cares who you follow, or
don't follow! It's only up to you!
